Year in Review – 2015

Well folks, it’s a new year which calls for reflection and remembering another amazing year we were blessed with in this business. We met amazing couples, worked on new skills, and had some amazing experiences. By nature as an over-analyzer (Lindsay here), I spent lots of time throughout the year thinking about new angles on how to present to you, our followers, just how much fun we have and how deeply we develop relationships in this business.

As wedding photographers, we are entrusted with capturing arguably THE most important day in a family’s life. We get to be on the inside of someone’s intimate moments with the ones they love most. To say it’s special is like saying the sky is blue. In fact, there are so many shades of blue in the sky from day to day that the intricacies of each couple’s story move from hue to hue along with it.

Nearly every weekend throughout the season we are let in on secrets, celebrations, tears, laughter, and promises that reach beyond the camera to our hearts and change us forever with each tiny moment we capture. Now, let’s also talk about the super hilarious moments, the dancing, the attempts at dancing, and the climbing of trees or wading in water to get the shot. I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you how FUN this job is, but I’d also be lying if I told you it wasn’t hard.

From 104 degree hot summer days where we are outside 12 hours straight, to rainy days where we are keeping people calm and happy – all whist juggling umbrellas with cameras and flashes, schedule changes and the like. It’s still WORTH. EVERY. MINUTE. Because what we do is not only a freaking awesome honor, it’s also mind-blowingly rewarding too. And to do all that PLUS come away with friends we hang out with for years to come? Icing on top. And who doesn’t like icing? (No really, though, if you don’t like icing, I’m not sure we can be friends). Ok maybe we can. But it’ll require further questioning to question your sanity 🙂 Without further jabber from me (the chatty one, especially after coffee!), here are some of the MANY highlights from this year. And a lot of behind the scenes shots (which we never show to you because I’m so dang self-conscious…so no judging these pics – no one looks good when they’re working hard. Ok I lied again, some of you do, but I don’t want to talk about it. 🙂

Haha, I LOVE this shot of Brandon because it screams “How does this thing work again?” But really, he’s just checking dust.Brandon brought to my attention that I always smile from behind the camera. I didn’t notice it, but here’s the proof…Bridal portraits an hour before a tornado means some extra veil help…If you’ve been at a wedding we shot, you’d likely seen Brandon’s yoga stance…All my Carthage girls – we’ve shot ALL of these lovely ladies’ weddings. When Brandon hides in the trees, he gets shots like these. (And a rhyme, apparently)…

I’m not exactly sure what’s happening here, but I hope Chris didn’t eat whatever was in my hair 🙂Brandon always gets the “gear” questions. I think it’s rather adorable. No clue what I was thinking here. Move along, nothing to see here.
Brandon’s apparently HILARIOUS!Ok guys, Jessica may kill me but I HAD to show this outtake. Mark’s like “Say Wha?”I guess a “Go Vols” is appropriate here…Someone was a HAM!Sparklers and a tall groom spells new hairstyle (just kidding, he was fine)…
