Planning your Engagement Session Part 1: General Clothing Tips for a Classy Feel

You’ve been waiting for this for a very long time – now’s your chance to dress up and tell the world you’re getting married! It might surprise you to hear, but we don’t think you can be TOO dressy. Honestly, when else do you get to rock a tulle skirt or fancy dress? Apart from your wedding day, you don’t have too many occasions to glam up and rock it out for portraits. Go for it! When Brandon and I had anniversary photos done on the beach, I purchased a long blue tulle skirt and we invested in a nice

BJ and Abby – Cookeville Sunny Spring Engagement Session

Despite a very rainy spring, we truly lucked out with BJ and Abby’s engagement session. BJ is our nephew and we have been waiting for this sweet couple to make things official for a while now. It was a treat doing photos with them because they are so much fun. Abby choose a great location, and BJ was ready to make his bride laugh and beam with joy in their photos. Aiming for some blooms was a tough task because of several freezes after they first started to pop out, but Abby stood her ground and we are so glad

Caroline & Dalton – Intimate Hilltop Wedding in Whitleyville Tennessee

On this very hill, Dalton confessed his love to Caroline and asked her to be his wife. Only six weeks before he would be deployed, these two precious souls decided to plan a wedding. In three weeks time, this family planned one of the most memorable weddings we have seen. Caroline stripped away the extra and focused on what mattered. 6 Tools to Use in an Argument

If you’re married or have been together long, odds are you’ve experienced a disagreement with your significant other. It’s not always a bad thing – sometimes even when it hurts at the time it can bring you two closer by bringing things to the surface that you didn’t know were there. It’s never fun to be at odds with the person you love, and your heart can take a beating if you let it, but if disagreements are going to happen (and trust me, they are!), then you may as well use it to the advantage of you both. It’s

The Power of Perspective

Our Sunday school class was talking recently about perspective. Isn’t it amazing how your perspective and someone else’s can be SO different, even if you appear to be looking from the very same spot? It’s a little mind-blowing just how you can see something through a certain filter just because of your past, your mindset and your experiences.  Add that on top of how differently men and women can process the world around them and you have a recipe for confusion in marriage! We truly have different styles of communicating, of processing and of operating through daily life. At times

2017 Year in Review – Weddings and Engagements – Tennessee Wedding Photography

The act of choosing which images to blog from each wedding is daunting. We deliver hundreds of photos from our hours spent with each couple and when we look to share those in a way that tells a story, it can be tough to narrow those images down. And then on top of that, every year we torture ourselves with the task of showcasing the highlights of EVERY wedding and EVERY engagement session from the year. It’s so so hard, y’all! Why do we do this to ourselves? Because it’s worth it, that’s why. As tough as it is, we

Anna & Blake – Fall Engagement in old town Carthage Tennessee

We’ve known Anna for years. She’s one of those people that is easy to be with, instantly makes you feel like a friend, and makes you laugh constantly. We’d known about her boyfriend but only met him once before he proposed. We knew Anna would choose a great person to spend forever with, and our engagement session certainly was a test for this fella who doesn’t like photos AT ALL. He passed with flying colors, did all that we asked and more, and trusted us completely. The result was photos they loved, and a happy bride-to-be. Fall is a tricky

Hannah & Andy – Vibrant Fall Engagement at the Saltbox of Cookeville

If you could pick the PERFECT fall day for photos, Hannah and Andy did. It was slightly cool with the most perfect fall leaves and sunshine. And I’m so glad, because these two are the sweetest! They brought along their almost four year old daughter and we were able to smooze her into some photos before too long. We loved our time with these three, walking the grounds of the Saltbox Inn and Stables and finding the most perfect of colors as our backdrops. You’ll see these two trust and love each other completely, and their precious daughter is,

Madison & Logan – Hermitage Golf Course Fall Engagement

A few weeks back we had the pleasure of shooting photos for Madison and Logan. Recently engaged after a long period of dating, they are finally 🙂 planning their wedding amid school and work. Madison works at the beautiful Hermitage Golf Course while in dental school, and since Logan is also an avid golfer we decided it was a perfect spot to not only fit their personalities but also to show off the fall foliage. The weather tried pretty hard to kick us out, with sprinkles, wind and cool temps; but we prevailed and got some beautiful shots of

Hannah & Justin – Puppy Love Engagement Session in Sevierville Tennessee

Hannah and Justin have a sweet and unique love story. They are lovers of nature, which is fitting as they live in the beautiful east Tennessee mountains of Sevierville. They love to travel and they appreciate the arts including photography and distillery. Another thing, besides each other, that they love, is their dog Scout. He followed us around throughout the engagement session and couldn’t have been cuter – posing super well for photos and even photobombing some like a pro. We had a wonderful day with these two and we love the way their love and respect for each other
